President’s message

Hello Neighbors –

A couple of things happened since my last note: 1) my wife (Christy) was selected for Jury Duty (if you see her around, please ask her about it; she loves to tell the story), and 2) the city held primary elections. These two things always remind me of my 9th-grade civics teacher (who was also the line coach for our football team) telling us the most important lesson we need to take away from his class is, as US Citizens, we have two responsibilities that we must uphold – Voting and Jury Duty.  To those of you who have worked the polls in the past, are working them this year, or will work them in the future, I want to thank you and say how grateful I am that you choose to serve. It is such an important and thankless job.  I also want to thank everyone who participated in the primary elections and encourage you to be sure to make your voice heard in the general elections in November.

On to my next item. Some of you may have noticed a mug and information sheet on your front porch this past weekend. We were really behind on delivering these and trying to make it up. We have a few more houses to deliver to this weekend. If you have moved into the neighborhood in the last couple of years and haven’t or don’t get a mug, please let us know, and we will deliver. We want everyone who lives in the Valentine Neighborhood to proudly display their support.

Finally, we will be having elections for Executive Officers in October. We have a couple of positions open. Of course, you are more than welcome to run for a position. We are also looking for committee chairs. If you would like to get more involved, please let us know. You can also contact Christy Gaddis (Membership Chair) or Dana Meier (Vice President) for any questions or suggestions.

I hope everyone enjoys the last few days of summer, and I hope to see everyone at our next general meeting on August 28th.

Sincerely,

Travis Gaddis

President,
