St. Patrick’s Day Parade

March 17 @ 11:00 am - 2:00 pm

St. Patrick’s Day is a big event in Valentine. Since 2019, the parade has been held in Midtown, starting at Linwood and Broadway and going south along Broadway to 43rd Street. According to the parade committee, “The area around Redemptorist Catholic Church where the parade starts was traditionally called Kerry Patch in the 1800s after the large Irish immigrant population living there. Many of the stone buildings in the neighborhood were built by Irish with limestone quarried by Irish in the Penn Valley Park area.”

Valentine residents need to be aware that no parking will be enforced along the parade route starting at 5 a.m. on the 17th. Police will begin ticketing and towing vehicles off the route at that time. The entire route will begin closing on March 17th starting at 8 a.m. from the south section of Broadway moving north to 31st street.

The parade goes on, rain, snow, or shine, as logn as the parade committee feels it is safe.

More details about the route and preparing for the parade are on the committee’s website.
