VNA General Meeting Wednesday, April 28, 7 p.m.

Guest Speaker: Kerry Browne of Browne’s Irish Market

Browne’s, the oldest Irish business in North America, has been a vital part of the Valentine neighborhood since 1901. The first Browne/Flavin family market aimed to provide quality food, wares and Irish hospitality to customers and friends. The market helped keep the neighborhood alive during the depression of the 1930s, letting people pay what they could afford. Kerry Browne and her business partners and husband John McClain took over the management in 1981. Kerry will highlight the history and give us a peak of what is coming up at Browne’s this spring.

Other topics will include:

  •  Details on the neighborhood cleanup planned for May 22 and dumpsters coming on July 24
  • Update on the community garden
  • How to participate in Valentine’s new online “safety text teams”
  • Word on the Street: Your chance to ask questions and share news of interest to the neighborhood
