A developer recently purchased the Broadway Church/First Swedish Church at 3931 Washington Street (the church actually faces Broadway) and has received approval from the city to operate it as a wedding venue. The developer is now asking the City Plan Commission for a special use permit to use the upper floors as four hotel rooms. This comes after the developer said he planned to create four short-term rental units on the upper floors and found that was not allowed under city codes.
